Piccolino restaurant in Chester re-opened this weekend after a head-to-toe makeover, unveiling some stunning new features.
The Prosecco, the décor and the deserts are top of our list when assessing any new restaurant, and in all these areas we are delighted to report that the new look Piccolino does sound rather promising.
Swish new Prosecco bar
The Prosecco Bar offers a range of ten different Proseccos to sample along with a selection of tempting complimentary cicchettti (Italian style nibbles) every afternoon during ‘Aperitivo Time’. The choice is between ‘frizzante’ (semi sparkling) or ‘spumante’ (full-on ‘up your nostrils’ fizz), and whichever Prosecco you select, it will arrive deliciously chilled from the bar’s glass froster.
As well as the swanky Prosecco bar, the restaurant also boasts a designated ‘Wine Boutique’ which showcases an all-Italian wine list, together with a vast selection of champagne.
Luxurious furnishings, and ‘Harrods food hall’ layout
The interior make-over has an opulent feel, with Italian Carrara and Nero marble, antique brass, English oak and oversized handmade lamps setting off stunning light-blue leather ‘yacht style’ seating.
Piccolino has opted for a food hall style layout (inspired by Harrods), with an open-plan kitchen, and meat, poultry, fish and shellfish counters all temptingly on view.
Anyone for desert?
The new look restaurant features a patisserie counter and gelato bar from where diners can observe pastry chefs theatrically tossing their pancakes.
Highlights from the main menu, which majors on local, fresh, organic and handmade produce, include certified Black Aberdeen Angus beef, an impressive range of shellfish, artisan filled pastas.
Steven Walker, founder of Individual Restaurants, which owns the Piccolino chain, said: Piccolino Chester was busier than ever but we felt a fresh, new look would be something nice to give to our loyal guests.”
